This is a wonderful little link between Manchester and Salford, linking Ordsall to St George’s Island over the River Irwell. It is also known locally as the Mark Addy bridge, named after a local man who is reputed to have saved up to 50 people from drowning and owned the riverside pub, which bore his name. Traversing this bridge feels like walking through a little slice of history.
