This was a bitterly cold winter day a few years ago and the sun was retiring in the perfect position straight ahead over the river, between the tunnel of buildings that lined the Irwell. As the star sunk it gave way to colder blues that adorned the concrete and left a few emissaries of light in the form of Victorian street lamps. The torrents of the water below present a shadow world of the above, more frantic and hurried than the calm of the surface.
