Manchester’s Neo Gothic headquarters and one of its architectural jewels. This building is world famous and on any given day will be photographed by hundreds of tourists both externally and internally but there will be no opportunity for the latter until 2024; necessary maintenance work is currently being undertaken to preserve the building for future generations. On the last day before this enforced closure I was lucky enough to have a final walk around the building and captured many features of the building but was stunned by the beauty of the courtyard, which is rarely seen by the public. Little wonder then that this location has been used in many TV and Film projects including Harry Potter – the true magic here lies in the genius of Alfred Waterhouse’s design, a truly stunning piece of work.
