From Stevie Wonder, The Drifters, Jimi Hendrix to The Streets, The Black Keys and Prince. Manchester Academy has played host to the greats since 1963 and is one of the most revered gig venues in Manchester. Located on Oxford Road in the heart of Manchester’s student community, the place is always abuzz with roadies getting ready for that night’s show, with people queueing to get in or just hanging around hoping to catch a glimpse of that night’s artist. I took this picture on a foggy night when gig goers were braving the cold air undeterred and the lights of the venue shone out like a beacon of hope. This is a place where lifelong memories are created.
