This shot harkens back to Manchester’s past. The moderately lit and deserted canal way looks ready for industry to flow through it the next morning, with a willow sculpture on the left (Bess the Shire Horse) commemorating the role of horses played during this period. At the end is St James Buildings, a grade II listed treasure that was finished in 1912 – save for the modern storefronts at the foot of the building, the scene has very few clues to the present day.
