This is one of the first pictures that I loved – taken from Fitzwarren Court in Salford on a summer morning of mesmeric light. The angle of the sun against the Salford tower blocks and the Manchester structures in the distance created some very intense shadows and create a sense of city stirring for another day. This skyline has already changed so much since it was taken in 2011 and captures the beginning of another Manchester development boom – with the student Castle tower block being erected in the distance.
