The Britons Protection has been serving the patrons of Manchester since the 19th Century. In recent times, due to Covid and to issues with the brewery, this institution has been under threat. However it remains there still - in defiance of change for change’s sake. I wanted to take a picture that captured this mood and so took it from Lower Mosley St, so as to also capture the new build tower blocks that dwarf it. What Britons may like in scale it more than makes up for in warmth – in every sense of the word.
