The original Arndale Tower – a familiar site across generations, derided by some as an eyesore that belongs to the era of the 70s, but it is unmistakably one of the most recognisable symbols of Manchester and evokes a whole host of memories for Mancunians. Whilst the centre as a whole was redeveloped after the IRA bomb in 1996, this tower remained as a link to the past. I like to think it is a comforting reminder of a simpler era.
