This former Methodist Hall built in 1908 was lost in the sands of time before being renovated in the mid 2010s for gigs and other events. For years, regular attendees of Brannigans on Quay Street had no idea what sat above their heads until renovation work began in 2012 and it then played host to the likes of Goldfrapp for the Manchester International Festival and countless other big names in the years since. This is a truly special venue with so much history (Winston Churchill spoke here) and any gig here feels super atmospheric. I wanted to capture this feeling, which is present before a note is played or before a single member of the audience walks in. There’s magic trapped within these walls.
